Midnight in the garden of good and evil –or at least midnight slaving away on photoshop.
Everything is an illusion these days. Our eyes no longer can be trusted to tell us the truth of what we see. Above you’ll notice four different photos. The first two are post photoshop finished products and the second two are post color balance manipulation from lightroom. They’re both the same model, me, and they’re both taken in the same location with the same background and yet they have completely different feels. That’s photoshop for ya. Taking reality and warping it into a hallucination.
Take a moment and notice the changes to hair, make up, facial expression, varying warmth, multiplicity of masks.
I am not a great photographer. I don’t have a fancy camera. I don’t have any nice lights. It’s just me, my nikon, and a remote. My vision however is rarely based in a reality that I can capture, thus I use tools like photoshop and lightroom to bring life to my dreams, nightmares, and hallucinations.
